The ministry of the church cannot be sustained without the generous financial pledges and contributions received. The gifts and tithes we receive are bound by what it means to be in community and being good stewards of the gifts God has given us, both in our personal lives and in our communal life. Tithing is a spiritual discipline, born during the time of the apostles, when having a common purse supported the ministry of Jesus and his disciples. At St. Philip’s, we honor the financial contributions we receive, and take serious our stewardship of all our resources. We know that people give not only from their abundance, but also from their scarcity.
