What faith means to us

Episcopalians see themselves as a part of the catholic church – that is a part of the whole church. The word “catholic” means whole or entire. So even when we differ from other parts of the whole/catholic church, we want to be respectful of them.

One of the ways we differ from what most people assume about Christian faith is how we use the word “faith.”

For us, faith is not really a set of beliefs, a list of rules or even a creed.

Faith, for us, means trust. In this case a deep trust in the God who creates, heals, and will one day recreate the world and that we are called to lives of meaning and community in this world.

For Episcopalians, faith is the trust to risk ourselves in love for ourselves, others, and the earth.
